We are a highly profitable web based business looking for software engineers who have a passion and expertise working with Java, Groovy, and GRAILS (who knows? Maybe Scala?).
Successful candidates will be enthusiasts as well as professionals. We are not just looking for coders. We are looking for engineers who love software engineering and have a passion for it. We encourage attending and presenting at conventions. Many of our engineers are local JUG members. We host the local JUG meetings. We are looking for engineers who try new things on their own, because they love to try new ideas and tools - not because it's required for their job. We attended 2GX and are Groovy and GRAILS enthusiasts.
Solid JAVA skills are a must first and foremost. We are adopting Groovy and GRAILS and have internal tools already written in both. We have an eye towards more in the future.
Your skills should have a SOLID JEE foundation. To get started here you'll need strong skills in Hibernate, Spring Core (and many related technologies like Webflow and SpringMVC), Struts, and good testing habits. Strong Groovy and GRAILS skills or experience is a big plus of course... but we don't mind if you are coming up to speed. We are all coming up to speed as well.
Just a few of the technologies teams at eHarmony are working with: Spring (of course!), Spring Integration, SpringMVC, Groovy, GRAILS, Hadoop (yes we have big data problems). EC2, Project Voldemort, memcached, and much more. Our teams like to use the right tools for the job. We are not inflexible. When we find a place and compelling reason to use a tool or technology, we adopt it. We adopt what works not what someone 'tells' us to use.
You do not have to have 'X' years of experience. You do need to be an engineer capable of solving some gnarly problems, learning, and constantly improving. You need to have some passion for the work.
eHarmony is a located in Southern California and is an equal opportunity employer
